Blanc / Black
「Blanc / Black」シリーズは、写真の本質である光と影をテーマとし、太陽神、天照大御神が祀られる日向大神宮（京都）と日御碕神社（島根）を被写体に、陽が東から昇る日向大神宮では午前の光で、陽が西に沈む日御碕神社では夕刻の光でそれぞれを捉え、光と影を重ねて制作された。
光（RGB）と影（CMYK）をそれぞれ幾十にも重ねると、光は白色に、影は黒色に近づいていく。本シリーズタイトルに使用される英語の”Black”の語源は、「白」や「空白」を意味するフランス語の”Blanc”である。
「Blanc / Black」では、全ての色が無くなると同時に、全ての色が存在する。
The "Blanc / Black" series focuses on light and shadow that are the essence of photography. The subjects are Himukai Grand Shrine (Kyoto) and Hinomisaki Shrine (Shimane) where the Amaterasu Omikami, the Sun Goddess, is defied. In the sun rising from the east at Himuraki Grand Shrine was shot in the light of the morning and at the Hinomisaki Shrine where the sun sets in the west, was shot in the light of evening.
When the light (RGB) superimposes by multiple exposure, the color approaches white. When the shadow (CMYK) superimposes by overprint, the color approaches black. The word "Black" in English is derived from "Blanc" in French means "white" or "blank".
It shows the state when all colors overlap, at the same time - “no-color”.
